The shooting was discovered around 10:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5 in the city of Poughkeepsie after police received a call reporting a gunshot victim at 325 Church St., said City of Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
Responding officers found an 18-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident with gunshot wounds to his buttocks, upper thigh, and calf.
He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His wounds are considered "non-life-threatening," Clark said.
Neither the victim nor any of the witnesses would or could provide any information on who committed the shooting, where they fled, or why the shooting occurred, Clark added.
From evidence located at the scene, it appears the victim was riding a bike by 325 Church Street when an unknown subject opens fire on him.
While searching for evidence related to the shooting at 325 Church St., officers located multiple shell casings from 9mm, 45, and 40 caliber handguns in front of 16, 14, and 12 Hammersley Ave., as well as from the front porch of 28 Hammersley Ave.
"Apparently no one was injured as no calls were received reporting the shots fired on Hammersley Avenue," Clark said.
Interviews with multiple people on Hammersley Avenue failed to turn up any information that could further the investigation.
"At this point, it is unknown if the two incidents are related," he added.
